5/27/2020 Papago Thailand Map Download
My wife saw a Papago GPS in Fortune Tower today, she thought it looked ok and said quite a few friends she knows use one. It's not for us as we have a GPS in the truck and also a Garmin 3770 which we keep as standby!!
No it's for her daughter who is always getting lost in BK whether it be leisure or on business!! She has to visit various banks and large businesses and just has no idea of travelling around BK.They apparently are on offer at 3990 Bath for the next two days.Anyone have any experience of these units please? Do not buy the papago (hardware made by wayway)such a terrible device.

No real support for thailand yet they are selling it here. This should be banned!!after struggling with it for so long. Wrong routes. Wrong highways.
Hours lost in various holidays around and outside bangkok.i finally managed to 'update' the map. 2014 thai maps. It came preinstalled with 2010 map.best part. Common landmarks are no longer found!!!!i even had megabangna in the 2010 map! But after the update. I can't find all the previous landmarks that were included in the original map.also it has a really bad habit of making you exit a highway. Just to re enter it again.
It does this continulously. Also alot of the roads have wrong speed limits. So it keeps saying you are going too fast. At 60km!!!i really wish i had read some reviews online before buying.
I paid about 4000 i think. From some fair.
This doesn't sound like a genuine Garmin.Click for closer view and you're see GP430 and Skytrek label.Garmin does not use Windows CE, it does not licence out its mapping software afaik. It looks like a hacked version. It didn't say it is a Garmin right? So long there is Thailand map, I'm ok with it. If you look around, there are many such 3rd party GPSes that carry Garmin software. I saw a few that can accept papago, garmin, malsing and etc, all in one.
Do you call them hacked product?Regards. It didn't say it is a Garmin right? So long there is Thailand map, I'm ok with it.
If you look around, there are many such 3rd party GPSes that carry Garmin software. I saw a few that can accept papago, garmin, malsing and etc, all in one. Do you call them hacked product?Regards,Yes they are hacked. There's no official support for Garmin to run windows CE. Those that run are hacked from the the Windows Mobile version of Garmint Mobile XT. It'll run l exactly like a mobile XT, i.e lots of feature are not there compare to a dedicated Garmin standalone. Someone posted that Win CE cannot run Garmin gps software unless it's hacked, maybe from GMXT software. There's a difference between the hardware maker, software maker, and gps maps, whether licenced or not is for you to find out and decide to use.Alternatively, you could also download Garmin Thailand map off the web.somewhere.I see.
So the question here would be the 'licensed to use' matter. If they sell openly, I suppose it should be fine. Anyway, I will ask them the question. What are the major differences between the XT and the actually Garmin? Are these differemces mainly comestic?
Is NUVI Garmin a genuine one? Thanks.Regards,Garmin Mobile XT(GMXT) is the software release to run on Windows Mobile PDA/Phone. Nuvi are standalone unit for automobile market by Garmin. Both are genuine. In term of features, GMXT is not extensive compare to Nuvi. As far as I know, any product that runs on windows CE, such as the one in your link, are not licensed. They are using a hacked version from GMXT, that is circulating around on the net.
Since it's hacked from GMXT, it'll be just a GMXT and not a Nuvi, though physically they look like a standalone GPS. So the question here would be the 'licensed to use' matter. If they sell openly, I suppose it should be fine. Anyway, I will ask them the question. Thanks.Regards,It's just like you buy a notebook that comes pre-bundled with Microsoft OS and maybe Microsoft Office. The seller may tell you blah.blah.blah, but they could be using unlicenced software aka pirated software unless they can show you all the licences. If it doesn't bothers you, then you take it. But if MS/BSA starts taking action against not only the seller, but the buyer as well for unlicenced software, then you would be in trouble too.A Garmin Thailand (ESRI) map alone retails over US$100.Maps done by commercial companies like TeleAtlas, ESRI are meant for sale. It may be bundled with genuine Garmin devices since they are commissioned by Garmin.
But a hacked version of Win CE running Garmin software is unlikely to be licenced.
